Flappy Bird was once of the largest mobile games ever released (at the time it was launched). People really seemed to are about the game, even with such a simple concept it was. Although the game was insanely popular, the developer ended up taking down the game after feeling responsible for how addicting it was. Recently, it was announced that Flappy Bird would be returning. This is a lie, and here's why.
A Relaunch of a Game or an NFT Scam?
Last week, the Flappy Bird Foundation announced a game going by the same name as the hit game, Flappy Bird. The game's original developer is mentioning that he isn't involved. The new Flappy Bird seems to be more of an NFT scam than anything, as although the trailer didn't mention anything about NFTs, the game's website sure did. The website also mentions that, quote, “fly higher than ever on Solana as it soars into web 3.0,” and invited players to “build, create, play and stake to own.” Solana is a blockchain platform used for selling NFTs and related things.
This new Flappy Bird might play on nostalgia, but it seems to be yet another memorable game being shamelessly copied and used to scam people.
